Coordinator Student Life and Campus Events Location Wayne County, OH : Summary Independently coordinates and executes tasks in support of a programs, event, service or department. Serves as point-of-contact to internal and external parties providing both information and assuring service delivery. Must foresee and rectify complications preemptively and in real time. Student Life Programs create, enhance, promote, and execute programming, education, prevention outreach and policies of t the University to provide a safe, healthy, welcoming and inclusive experience for students . These programs foster a sense of community and allow students to learn and explore diverse opportunities and interests through campus wide events, celebrations and community service projects. Includes programs such as fraternity and sororities, registered student organizations, student government, study abroad, leadership training, civic engagement and undergraduate student government. Job Summary: To build a vibrant campus environment with a superior commuter student experience. Coordinate special events, projects, and meeting arrangements. Have oversight of student organizations and their activities. Essential Functions: 50% Coordinate special events, projects, and meeting arrangements:
  • Act as a liaison between visiting speakers, administrators/faculty and community members
  • Provide direction and supervision to departmental employees and advise volunteers or assistants regarding events
  • Work with the facilities department to organize physical structure for the events
  • Act as a liaison between various groups as well as a host/hostess for special events. Represent the department at committee meetings and functions when necessary.
  • 50% Oversee Wayne College Student Organizations:
    • Assist students with developing their student organizations
    • Develop policies and procedures for student organizations
    • Oversee campus student programming
    • Liaison with the Akron Campus student organization administration
    • Work with student organizations to establish consistent year-round programming, to build a vibrant campus environment, with a superior commuter student experience
    Additional Position Information: Required Qualification: A relevant Bachelor's Degree and up to 2 years of experience in Student Life and/or event planning experience. Strong organizational, communication, and computer skills including word processing, and spreadsheets required. Leadership: Responsible for directing and monitoring the work of student and/or temporary workers. Compensation: The starting salary for this position is $42,000. The compensation for this position is commensurate with experience and qualifications.
