Job Description Summary:

We are seeking an experienced Labor & Delivery Registered Nurse for a 13-week contract in Apple Valley, CA. This position is ideal for a confident L&D RN who can work independently in a high-acuity setting, with occasional floating to postpartum when needed. Join a collaborative, patient-focused team within a respected acute care hospital.

Responsibilities:

• Provide direct care to laboring patients, manage induction and delivery, assist with cesarean births.

• Monitor fetal heart rates and maternal vitals during labor and delivery.

• Perform assessments and interventions in accordance with L&D protocols.

• Support patients and families throughout the birth process.

• Collaborate with OBs, anesthesiologists, pediatricians, and other nursing staff.

• Accurately document assessments, interventions, and outcomes in Epic EMR.

• Float to postpartum unit when required.

• Floating: Yes, to postpartum on rare occasions

• On-call Required: No

• Weekend Requirement: As scheduled by unit

• Block Scheduling: Not available

• First-Time Travelers Accepted: No

• Guaranteed Hours: Facility may call off 1 shift per 2-week pay period

• Charting System: Epic

Qualifications Education:

• Graduate of an accredited nursing program

Experience:

• Minimum of 2 years recent Labor & Delivery RN experience required

License:

• Active California RN license must be in hand by start date

Certifications Required:

• ACLS Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support

• AWHONN Advanced Fetal Monitoring

• BCLS (Basic Life Support)

Skills:

• Strong clinical judgment in obstetric emergencies

• Proficiency in fetal monitoring interpretation

• Skilled in patient and family education

• Comfort with occasional float to postpartum care
