Recreational Therapist to join our family of caring professionals at Perimeter Behavioral of Dallas! If you are a Licensed Recreational Therapist who is seeking to be a part of a professional team to assist in transforming the lives of our patients, then you should apply today.
The Recreational Therapist responsibilities include the following: Recreational Therapist will be responsible for knowledge and skill necessary to provide care based on physical, psychological, educational, safety and related criteria for adolescent and adult population.
- Plan and administer therapeutic recreational activities reflecting special considerations for the following age categories: Pediatric, Adolescent, Adult and Geriatric.
- Complete Activity/Recreational Therapy Assessments
- Organize, conduct, and supervise recreational therapy activities which promote social interaction, personality adjustments, and character development, such as adapted sports, dramatics, social activities, arts, and crafts.
- Regulate content of program in accordance with patient’s capabilities, needs, and interests.
- Documentation of group sessions.
- Assist in developing, implementing, and managing new services and programs and integrates with existing services and programs.
- Define and implement treatment goals as part of the interdisciplinary treatment team.
- Plan and assist with programming outside of normal group hours for special events.
- Maintain and order appropriate materials and supplies for interventions.
Qualified candidates should have the following: - Valid License/Certification: Certified Recreation Therapist
- CPR/HWC Training Preferred
- Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in occupational, art, music or recreation therapy, humanities, social work or related therapeutic discipline or Master’s degree in Recreational therapy preferred.
- Qualified applicants also have a basic understanding of DSM V diagnostic criteria and a basic understanding of medical and psychiatric diagnoses and conditions.
- one year experience and knowledge of psychiatric patient care techniques with understanding of mental illness, preferred.
