What To Expect
We are looking for a Mechanical Design Engineer to join the Tesla Camera and Robotics Team. This team is responsible for the entire lifecycle of cameras within our vehicles which includes sensor evaluation, lens development, camera module development, monitoring of manufacturing quality, camera calibration, image quality assessment, and camera image quality tuning. As a member of the team, you will drive mechanical design and integration of camera modules across our vehicle platforms or our special projects and robotics divisions. What You'll Do Work closely with cross-functional teams to define product requirements and develop specific implementations. Develop designs in CAD for both detailed parts and master model assembliesPerform tolerance analysis, Finite Element Analysis (FEA), and other simulations and analyses before releasing designs for productionCreate 2D drawings appropriate for high-volume production and inspection methodsConduct Design for Manufacturing (DFM) reviews with suppliers and support tooling bring upRun validation tests and perform data analysisSimulate cameras in ANSYS SPEOSProvide production support to help identify and resolve issues
What You'll Bring Degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent experienceKnowledge in robotics and multi-DOF mechanisms is a plusKnowledge of design of plastic injection molded, sheet metal stamping and cast partsProficient in CAD, CATIA preferredExperience in drafting 2D drawings with GD&TExperience with FEA, ANSYS preferredCamera and lighting simulation experience in SPEOS or equivalent

Expected Compensation
$106,400 - $206,520/annual salary + cash and stock awards + benefits
Pay offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, including market location, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. The total compensation package for this position may also include other elements dependent on the position offered.
