Position Summary

The Collections Associate will be responsible for contacting past due borrowers and collect delinquent amounts due, Automatic Debit (ACH) changes, send default letters and handle general inquiries. The ideal candidate will possess project management skills, effective communication skills (written and verbal), and excellent customer service skills including consistent communication and follow up with both internal and external stakeholders. The Associate will report to the VP of Loan Servicing and this is a hybrid position based out of the San Diego office.

Essential Responsibilities

· Contact borrowers who are past due and collect past due funds.

· Send default letters.

· Refer seriously past due Borrowers to Vice President Risk Management and/or Sr. Portfolio Officer/Team Lead for assignment to Liquidation Analysts.

· Initiate and coordinate automatic debit additions and changes with Borrowers through e-Trans and with the Central Servicing Agent (CSA).

· Track and update post debenture purchase Loan/Note Modifications.

· Track and update post debenture purchase Offers in Compromise.

· Assist in the coordination of deferments.

· Track and correspond with Borrowers, Obligors, and Guarantors regarding delinquent property taxes on assigned loans.

· Coordinate with Servicing to resolve issues when possible.

· Answer general servicing questions.

· Order site visits through site visit vendor.

· Train employees of job functions.

· Ensure relevant Notes are entered in Ventures+, as well as various tabs updated.

· Upload pertinent documents to Ventures/BMI. 

Requirements

· Bachelor’s degree and/or equivalent experience. Education level will be considered on a holistic basis considering both education and work experience

· A minimum of 3 years direct collections experience is required. Experience in collection of small business loans is preferred

· Proficiency with MS Office applications; Advanced Excel skills

· Ability to prioritize, multi-task, and remain organized

· Strong written and verbal communication skills

Benefits

The salary range for this position is $25.27 - $30.00 an hour and is eligible for an annual incentive.

This role is hybrid and based out of San Diego, CA.
